1995– MySQL releases their SQL database program for web pages. This is known as a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). MySQL uses C and C++, the SQL parser used yacc and a hybrid of lexer called “sql_lex.cc”. Many different websites to this day use versions of MySQL, including us at Geekazine and the Day in Tech History.

1995 – Programming language Delphi was released by Borland. Delphi is an object oriented derivative of the Pascal programming language meant for Windos and Mac OS in 32-bit and 64-bit. It was the successor to Borland Pascal.

Delphi is still in release – XE7. It has ported over to current desktop and mobile devices including Android devices. Software such as Oracle SQL Developer, MySQL Admin tools, Skype, WinRAR, Nero Burning Rom, Partition Magic, Media Monkey, Ultimate Paint, Age of Wonders and multiple emulators were all written on Delphi at one point in time.

May 23, 1995: Sun Released Java Programming, MySQL Released RDBMS

1995– Sun releases the Java Programming language. James Gosling at Sun Microsystems originally developed the language as a core component to Sun’s Java platform. It uses C and C++ syntax. It used the theory of “Write Once, Run Anywhere” (WORA). By doing this, a programmer didn’t need to recompile a program to run it or test for bugs. Most of Java Programming Language is under a GNU General Public License

On the same day, MySQL releases their SQL database program for web pages. This is known as a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). 1997– US Senator Orrin Hatch holds a hearing on the Antitrust activities of Microsoft. Scott McNealy of Sun Microsystems and Jim Barksdale of Netscape Communications were present to question if Microsoft is intentionally pushing out the Netscape web browser for Internet Explorer. Of course, this would become a long drawn out investigation which almost splits Microsoft into separate companies.

2000 – Kevin Mitnick, who was imprisoned for 5 Years in hacking IBM, Motorola and DEC; then a big chase with the FBI, was released from prision. He was still ordered to not log onto a computer.2003 – Kevin Mitnick finally logs back onto the Internet after the 3 year probation. He fought the prohibition from the Internet and got it reduced to 3 years. No word as to where he went on his first login.
