October 4, 1979: HP 41c Programmable Calculator

Hewlett Packard came out with their first Programmable calculator in 1979. The HP-41c was the first to give alphanumeric display capabilities. It would actually tell you what to do (ex. “ENTER RADIUS”) instead of leaving your wondering. It also had four ports that could be used to expand memory, install a Thermal printer, magnetic reader or bar code scanner. 2011 – Apple Announces the iPhone 4s, with retina display and Siri functionality. February 20, 2001: Napster’s One Billion Dollar Bribe

2001 – Napster took back a $1 billion offer to record labels, songwriters and artists for being able to continue pushing their music. They made the offer on Feb 18th, but the RIAA called them out. Napster’s plan was to give major labels (in whole) $150 million per year for a non-exclusive license. Independent labels would be paid based on volume. The company would then initiate a membership fee to cover costs. February 20, 1986: Launch of Mir Space Station

1986 – The first piece of the Mir Space Station is launched. With 6 docking ports and labs for research, the Space Station was expected to push us into the stars.
