2000 – Microsoft CEO Bill Gates announces he will be stepping down from his role but remain on the Board and embrace a new role as Chief software architect. Steve Ballmer will take over the CEO role and also remain president. Love him or hate him, Ballmer kept Microsoft running and helped raise annual revenues. Ballmer would remain CEO of Microsoft until February 2014, then take over as the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. January 25, 2003: DDOS – SQL Slammer Worm

2003 – 5:30 AM. SQL Slammer worm caused a DDOS, infecting 75,000 within ten minutes. Christopher J. Rouland, the CTO of ISS, named it Slammer. The worm exploited a buffer overflow bug in Microsoft‘s SQL Server and Desktop Engine database products. January 13,1984: Jack Tramiel resigns from Commodore

1984 – Two days after the announcement of the 264 and 364 computers, CEO Jack Tramiel resigned from Commodore. There was a lot of battling within the board of directors. 6 months after Tramiel left, he started another company called “Trammel” and hired away a few of the key Commodore employees. The company was one of those that bought – then sold – Atari.
